Call for the exclusion of Russian and Belarussion Sports

The Norwegian Board Sports Federation calls upon our international federations - World Skate,The International Surfing Association and The World Snowboard Federation - to immediately exclude Russian and Belarussion Sports.

We also ask these federations to do all within their power to make the IOC, IPC and other major sports organizations adopt this position. Further, we support the work of the Norwegian Ski Federation towards the International Ski Federation on this matter.

The Russian attack on Ukraine is a blatant breach of international law and is unacceptable. It demands international condemnation and sanctions, also within sports.

On this background, it is our clear opinion that Russian and Belarussian athletes shall not participate in international sport events outside of Russia or Belarus. Russian and Belarussian sport leaders shall be suspended from their international positions.

We regret that such actions may affect Russian athletes and officials that are just as terrified by the meaningless and abominable acts of war by the Russian president as everyone else. At the same time these are extraordinary circumstances that call for extraordinary measures.

The Norwegian Board Sports Federation is deeply concerned for the safety of the Ukrainian board sports athletes and everyone affected.
